2021 Jeep Cherokee vs 2021 Toyota RAV4

2021 Jeep Cherokee vs 2021 Toyota RAV4

If you have been looking for a sporty SUV that is more than capable of taking you on an off-road adventure, then you have more than likely been looking at a Jeep SUV. For decades, Jeep has been known for producing some of the most rugged and capable off-roading vehicles in the market. One of the most popular adventurous family vehicles is the Jeep Cherokee. This year, the Jeep Cherokee is loaded with a wide range of advanced features that help make it stand apart from the competition. To better illustrate just how impressive the 2021 Jeep Cherokee truly is, we have compared it to another highly popular off-road SUV. Here is a look at how the 2021 Jeep Cherokee compares to the 2021 Toyota Rav4

Interior Design

Both of these vehicles offer a spacious and luxurious interior. However, the Cherokee's interior is slightly more spacious and also comes equipped with more high-end features. The Cherokee's cabin offers seating for up to five people and offers plenty of legroom and headspace for both the front and back seat passengers. There is also a large cargo area that can be expanded by lowering the rear seats. With the rear seats folded down and the rear storage compartment open, the Cherokee offers up to 1,634 litres (57.5 cubic feet) of interior cargo space. The Cherokee also offers a variety of premium materials. The seats come standard in soft cloth fabric; however, you can choose to have vinyl inserts in the seats or you can choose the available Nappa leather-faced seats. There are also several luxurious features including available heated seats and a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel.

The Toyota RAV4 also offers a luxurious interior. Some of the high-end features include an available dual-zone climate control system and an available sunroof. However, back seat passengers have often complained about feeling cramped in RAV4. This vehicle offers slightly less legroom than the Cherokee offers.

Entertainment Features

Both the Cherokee and the RAV4 come standard with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity options.

In higher trims, the Cherokee offers an innovative Uconnect system that features an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display that also comes with the same apps that the 7-inch display comes with as well as additional features such as a premium audio system and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The RAV4 only offers an 8-inch display in higher trims. The display is just as intuitive as the standard display. It also comes with a wide range of apps and features including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Power and Performance

The Cherokee comes standard with a front-wheel-drive system, however, there is also an all-wheel-drive system available as well as Jeep's iconic 4x4 system. The Cherokee also offers three powerful engine options including:

  • 2.4-litre engine that is paired with a 9-speed transmission and delivers 180 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft of torque. This engine can tow up to 907 kg (2,000 lbs.)
  • 3.2-litre V6 engine that is paired to a 9-speed transmission and delivers 271 horsepower and 239 lb.-ft of torque. This engine can tow up to 2,041 kg (4,500 lbs.)
  • 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that is paired to a 9-speed transmission and delivers 270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft of torque. This engine can tow up to 1,800 kg (4,000 lbs.)

The RAV4 only offers one engine. The standard 203-horsepower, 4-cylinder engine is mated to an automatic 8-speed transmission. The Rav4 comes standard with a front-wheel-drive, but an all-wheel-drive system is available.
