What's New for 2021?
Jeep Grand Cherokee
The 2021 Grand Cherokee has received a few modest updates this year. However, there is a new trim level available this year. The new Laredo X model features several high-end amenities including heated front seats and heated steering wheel, an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, and a built-in navigation system.
There is also a special 80th Anniversary Edition that is available as well. This special model comes standard with real leather upholstery and 18-inch alloy wheels. The 80th Anniversary model also comes with every one of the driver-assist features that are offered on the Grand Cherokee.
Ford Explorer
This year, the Explorer also only received minor changes as well. The Explorer also introduces a new trim level to the lineup. The new King Ranch model comes with a few additional interior features including leather seating. N higher trim levels, you can now get more standard features. For example, the Limited, Platinum, and ST models come standard with 8-way power-adjustable passenger seats.
Interior Design
The Grand Cherokee has one of the most spacious and luxurious cabins in its class. The interior can comfortably seat up to five people while providing plenty of legroom and headspace for all occupants. There is also a large rear cargo area that can be expanded by lowering the back seat in a 60/40 split. With both rear seats folded down, the interior is able to provide up to 1,934 litres (68.3 cubic feet) of interior cargo space. There is also a wide range of high-end standard features including dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, and a 12-way power-adjustable driver's seat.
The Explorer offers a nice interior. However, it does not come with the same number of standard features. For instance, heated front seats are an optional feature that is only available in higher trim levels.
Power and Performance
The Grand Cherokee offers four powerful engines to choose from, and the Explorer offers two engines.
The Explorer comes standard with a 2.3-litre 4-cylinder engine that is able to deliver up to 300 horsepower. There is also an available 3.0-litre V6 engine that can deliver 365 horsepower. There is also a 400-horsepower version of the 3.0-litre engine.
The different engines that are offered on the 202 Grand Cherokee include:
- 3.6-litre V6 engine delivers 293 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft of torque
- 5.7-litre Hemi V8 engine delivers 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft of torque
- 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine delivers 475 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft of torque
- 6.2-litre V8 engine that delivers 707 horsepower and 645 lb.-ft of torque
