Many pickup truck fans looking for a new ride face a challenging question: Ram or Ford? Both companies are about to put their flagship models on the streets, with many comparable features. Which one is the best for you? Keep reading to find out.
Driveability and Performance
The Ram 1500 and the Ford F-Series are among the most popular pickups in the market. The 2022 Ford F-150 comes with a wide range of engines, going from 250 to 450 horsepower. The torque ranges between 265 and 570 lb-ft.
The 2022 Ram 1500 offers better numbers on this front: 260 to 702 horsepower and torque between 269 and 650 lb-ft. Both models are heavy drinkers, though. The 2022 Ford F-150 makes between 8 km/L and 11km/L, while the Ram 1500 makes between 5km/L and 11 km/L.
Interior Designs
Here, there’s also a tough fight between the road’s heavyweights. Both models have a lot of internal space, with plenty of legroom for all passengers. The 2022 Ram 1500 can be greatly enhanced by adding a digital cluster display which supports 3D graphics and a Harmon Kardon sound system with 19 speakers. Customers can also choose from a panoramic sunroof.
The 2022 Ford F-150 comes with a wide range of perks that’ll depend on the trim level. There are grab handles, a floor shifter, a dome light, and a centre console among the improvements. F-150 vehicles tend to be quite tall and can be a little awkward to get in and out of. Higher trims have this problem fixed by running boards.
Technology and Safety
The 2022 Ram 1500 comes with some cool tech features, including screens ranging between 5.0-inch and 12-inch. Ram also uses an upgradable system called Uconnect, which can also include SiriusXM and navigation. This system can also be paired with smartphones.
The 2022 Ford F-150 infotainment structure is compatible with Android and iOS systems. Ford’s SYNC 3 system is user-friendly, and it’s quite smooth. The screen isn’t impressive in the lower trims: 4.0-inch only. Although the screen size can be upgraded in upper trims, it still doesn’t beat Ram’s 12-inch screen.
As for safety, both models offer great options. The 2022 Ford F-150 has a warning system for frontal collisions, panoramic cameras and rear-view, GPS navigation, and a parking system. The 2022 Ram 1500 has warning systems for lane departure, blind spots, rear cross path, and guided parking.
